Privacy Policy
Count with Berc ("the app", "we", "us") is a fitness tracking app run by Berk Aldanmaz, an individual developer based in the United Kingdom. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: support@countwithberc.com.
1. What stays on your device
The app is local-first. Your workouts, sets, routines, nutrition entries (calories, water, food logs), body measurements, progress photos and settings are stored in a database on your phone. We do not receive this data unless you choose to share part of it (see section 2).
2. Information we collect and process
| What | Why | When |
|---|---|---|
| Account details: email address, display name, profile photo, and the sign-in provider (email, Apple or Google) and its user ID | To create and secure your account, sign you in, and show your name and photo to others if you post | When you sign up or sign in, or edit your profile |
| Community content: posts (a summary of the workout you choose to share, including exercises and sets, an optional photo and caption), comments, likes, reports and blocks | To show your posts in the community feed and let others like and comment. Posts and comments are visible to other signed-in users | Only when you share or interact |
| Profile and follows: a public profile (display name, profile photo, supporter badge, follower and following counts), and who follows whom, including pending follow requests and the activity that follows from them (likes, comments and follow requests shown in your Activity inbox) | To let people find and follow you, show your posts to followers in the Following feed, and tell you about likes, comments and follow requests. Your profile is visible to other signed-in users; the lists of followers are visible only to you and the people involved. There is no private messaging | When you sign up, edit your profile, follow someone or respond to a request |
| Push notification token: a device token and your language | To send push notifications about likes, comments and follow requests, if you turn them on. You can turn them off any time in iOS Settings | When you allow notifications |
| Custom program requests: your goals, preferred style, where you train, equipment, notes, and your email address | So a trainer can build your program and deliver it to you in the app (and, if needed, by email) | When you submit a request |
| Purchase information: which products you bought (for example a program, a single program week or a support contribution) and the transaction identifier. We keep a record of this on our servers. Payment details are handled by Apple and never reach us | To unlock what you bought, restore purchases, show a supporter badge, and confirm custom program payments | When you buy or restore |
| Waitlist: your email address and the language of your browser, if you join the waitlist on our website | To email you when the app launches. We do not use it for anything else and do not share it | When you submit the form. Ask us at support@countwithberc.com to remove it at any time |
| Technical data: device and app information, and your account ID, sent to our purchase provider | To process purchases and prevent fraud | When the app checks purchases |
We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not show ads, and we do not sell your personal information.
3. Optional device features
- Apple Health – only if you connect it, the app can write your logged workouts and body weight to Apple Health, and read the calories burned and heart rate your watch or band (for example Apple Watch or Amazfit) recorded in Apple Health during a workout so it can show them on that workout. This is read on your device when you open a workout and is not uploaded unless you choose "Include calories and heart rate" when sharing a workout to the feed; then those two numbers are stored with that post and are visible to people who can see the post. We never share Health data with third parties or use it for advertising.
- Calendar – only if you tap "Add to Calendar", the app adds a workout event to your calendar.
- Camera and photo library – only when you choose to take or attach a progress photo, profile photo or post photo.
- Notifications – used for local reminders such as the rest timer and, if you allow them, push notifications about likes, comments and follow requests. You can turn them off in iOS Settings.
4. Services we use
- Supabase – hosts accounts, posts, comments, program content and custom program requests, and stores uploaded photos.
- Apple and Google sign-in – if you choose them, they confirm your identity and share your name and email with us as you permit.
- RevenueCat – manages in-app purchases and purchase history on top of the App Store. We use it to check what you bought so paid program content unlocks for you.
- Apple Push Notification service – delivers push notifications to your device if you turn them on.
- Apple App Store – processes all payments.
- USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts – when you search for a food, your search words are sent to these public databases to get nutrition values. No account information is sent.
- Image hosting – program cover images are stored with our hosting provider and loaded in the app.
These providers process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies. Some of them are located outside the UK, including in the United States, and use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
5. Why we use your information
We use it to provide the app and the features you ask for (contract), to keep the service secure and moderate content (legitimate interests), to meet legal obligations, and where you opt in, such as connecting Apple Health or sharing a post (consent).
6. How long we keep it
We keep account data and content you share while your account exists. When you delete your account in the app (Profile → Edit Profile → Delete Account), we delete your account, your posts, comments and likes, and your custom program requests, except where we must keep records, for example purchase or tax records. Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the app or use the in-app reset.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or export your data, object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time. Most of this you can do in the app. For anything else write to support@countwithberc.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
8. Children
The app is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections and access controls, and limit who can read your data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.
10. Not medical advice
The app and its training programs are for general fitness information. They are not medical advice. Talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise program.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
